The Natural Language Processing research group at Aalborg University.
Research environment
Complementary expertise, shared success.
Formally established in 2025, AAU-NLP brings together linguistics and semantics, machine learning, knowledge representation, security, and privacy. My central principle as group leader is to set everyone up for success: creating the trust, clarity, feedback, resources, and room people need to develop their own scientific identity and do ambitious work sustainably.
We use these complementary foundations to sharpen shared research questions rather than collapsing them into a single approach.

Researcher development
From opportunity to independence.
That principle is already reflected in the trajectories of researchers I have supervised. One PhD researcher received an EliteForsk Travel Scholarship in 2024; two of the group's first PhD researchers have secured international postdoctoral fellowships from the Carlsberg Foundation and Independent Research Fund Denmark. The group's first PhD graduated in 2025, and two former postdocs are now assistant professors at AAU.
These are their achievements; our responsibility is to create the conditions in which people can make the most of their ability.
